ในทางไวยากรณ์ Work กับ Job แตกต่างตรงที่ Work สามารถใช้ได้ทั้งในรูปของ คำนาม และ กริยา ในขณะที่ Job จะใช้ในรูปของ คำนาม เท่านั้น

ในด้านความหมายแล้ว

Work โดยทั่วไปแล้วจะหมายถึง งานที่ต้องออกแรง หรือ ใช้ความพยายาม ซึ่งคำตรงข้ามของ Work ในความหมายนี้ คือ Play ที่แปลว่า เล่น
