2.  คำว่า  last long  ใช้กับอาหารได้ไหมค่ะ

     If I keep this food in the freezer, it will last long.

     ถ้าเก็บอาหารนี้ในช่องแช่แข็ง มันจะเก็บได้นาน

ได้ค่ะ แต่ในกรณีที่คุณรัชนียกมา ส่วนมากจะพูดว่า it will last longer. ค่ะ เพราะมีการเปรียบเทียบว่า ใส่ช่องแข็งจะอยู่ได้นานกว่า (อยู่ช่องธรรมดา หรือ วางใว้ข้างนอก)

3. รอบรองชนะเลิศ   semifinal game    รอบชนะเลิศ  final game

ความเห็นส่วนตัว: มีคำว่า game หรือ match มาต่อท้ายคำ เมื่อต้องการเน้นว่า เป็นการแข่งขันรอบชิงชนะเลิศ/รองชนะเลิศ
บางประโยค ใช้แค่ semi-final หรือ final ก็เข้าใจค่ะ

outstanding โดยทั่วไป จะเป็นไปได้ 2 ทาง ก็ต้องดูจากรูปประโยค และ คำนามที่ outstanding ไปขยายด้วยนะค่ะ

"outstanding"(adj.) = ความหมายหนึ่งใช้กับ money หรือ things จะหมายถึง ยังไม่ได้ชำระ หรือ ยังไม่ได้ทำ ซึ่งก็หมายถึง "ค้าง" อย่างที่คุณรัชนีว่าได้เหมือนกันครับ นอกจากหมายถึงว่า "ดีเยี่ยม"  ซึ่งเป็นอีกความหมายหนึ่งแบบป้าจิ๊บว่า  

หากยังมีงานค้างอยู่ก็เช่น You have 2 reports still outstanding and must finish them before the end of next week. 

2.  คำว่า  last long  ใช้กับอาหารได้ไหมค่ะ

     If I keep this food in the freezer, it will last long.

->  ได้ครับ หรือ จะใช้ it will stay fresh for a long time ก็ได้นะครับ

    จำนวนข้อที่ทำผิดเกินที่กำหนดไว้   ( กำหนดว่าห้ามทำผิดเกิน 5 ข้อ แต่ทำผิดมากกว่า 5 ข้อ)

-> The wrong answers exceed the threshold.

"threshold"  ความหมายหนึ่งคือ ตัวเลข หรือ ระดับที่กำหนดไว้ โดยหากถึงตัวเลข หรือ ระดับนั้น ๆ จะมีผลอย่างที่กำหนดไว้  เช่น คะแนน 80% ขึ้นไป ถึงจะได้ grade A  ระดับตัวเลข 80% นี้จะเรียกว่า "threshold"  ครับ  หรืออย่างเกจ์ความร้อนในรถยนต์ เข็มไม่ควรถึงขีดแดง เพราะหม้อน้ำมีปัญหา หากเลย "ขีดแดง" ก็เรียกว่าเลย "threshold"  ครับ  (ความหมาย threshold อีกแบบที่รู้จักกันดีคือ "ธรณีประตู" ครับ)

     มีความหมายต่างจาก  put them back   ไหมค่ะ

-> Clear  everything back ที่หมายความว่า "เก็บเข้าที่เดิม"  น่าจะเป็น "clear (something) up"  หรือ  "clear something away"  มากกว่านะครับ   เพราะทั้ง 2 phrasal verbs จะหมายถึง เก็บของให้เข้าที่เดิม     ส่วนจะใช้  put them back ก็ได้ครับ เพราะความหมายของทั้ง 2 คำใน Longman Dictionary ก็ให้คำแปลว่า  " to make a place look tidier by putting things back where they belong"  ครับ

 

ส่วน "clear everything back"  หากตามในบริบทคุณรัชนียกตัวอย่างเพิ่มมา อาจจะหมายถึง ทำให้ที่มีของเยอะแยะ ให้ไม่มี หรือโล่งเหมือนเดิม โดยใช้ clear + "preposition" back  ที่ไม่ใช่ phrasal verb มั้งครับ  หากเห็นเหตุการณ์คงจะเข้าใจกว่านี้ว่าผู้พูดหมายถึงอะไรครับ  ;)

  เคยได้ยินคำว่า  backlog   บ่อยอยู่เหมือนกัน  แต่ไม่เคยใช้คำนี้เลยค่ะ

"clear up" (แบบไม่มี object)

1 to make a place look tidier by putting things back where they belong:

- I don't mind you using the kitchen as long as you clear up afterwards.

clear something ↔ up  (แบบมีobject โดยจะวาง object ไว้ ก่อน  หรือ หลัง "up"  ก็ได้ครับ)

- Adam, clear up this mess before your father sees it.

 

ส่วน "clear something away"  ต้องมี object โดยจะวาง object ไว้ ก่อน หรือ หลัง "away" ก็ได้ครับ
