Getting on the Airplane Dialogue

 

Mommy: Look, there is the airplane.

Child: Wow!

Mommy: We are going to fly on that airplane.

Child: Yeah!

Mommy: Wait!  We can’t get on the airplane yet. We must wait until they announce that the plane is ready.

Child: Why?

Mommy: They are cleaning the plane now and making sure it will be safe to fly.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: They’re making the announcement.  Are you ready?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Let’s get on the plane.  We have to walk this way, down this ramp.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Let’s find our seats.  We are in seats 23 A and 23 B.  Can you find them?

Child: Over here.

Mommy: Very good.  Now we have to put our bags in the overhead compartment.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Do you want to take anything out of your bag before I put it up?

Child: A book.

Mommy: Good idea.  Can you get your book out of your bag?

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Very good.  Our bags are stored.  Now it is time to put on our seatbelts.

Child: This?

Mommy: Yes.  That’s right.  Find both parts.

Child: Here!

Mommy: Excellent.  Now we have to snap them together, like this (snap), and tighten the strap, like this.  Does it feel tight enough?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: If it’s too tight you can loosen it a bit.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Now we wait for the plane to take off.  Why don’t you read your book until then or look out the window.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Mommy is going to read this magazine.

Child: Mommy?

Mommy: Yes?

Child: What’s that?

Mommy: That is a small luggage truck.  It’s bringing our suitcase to the airplane.  The suitcases get put in the bottom part of the airplane. 

Child: Suitcase?

Mommy: Yes, our suitcase will go in the bottom of the plane.  Then we will get it after we get off the plane.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: The stewardess is giving the safety instructions.  Let’s listen to her.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Now we are ready to take off.  Look out the window and you’ll see how fast we’re going.

Child: Wow!

Mommy: Now we’re flying.  You can see the ground below. 

Child: Wow!

Mommy: Flying is fun, right?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Now we have to wait until we land.  Why don’t you look out the window or read your book?

Child: Okay.
