[English Club]

In the car

 

Mommy: We’re going in the car.  I need you to please sit down when the car is moving.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: That means you can’t stand up, okay?

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Let’s get into the car.  Good job.  Now Mommy is starting the car.

Child: (stands up)

Mommy: __________, remember we agreed that you would sit down in the car?

Child: No.

Mommy: I need you to please sit down.

Child: I want to play.

Mommy: The car is not the place to play.  You must sit down.

Child: I want to play.

Mommy:  Mommy is driving the car now.  Mommy needs to watch the cars.  Why don’t you help me?  Can you sit down and find a black car?

Child: Okay.

Mommy:  Thank you.  Do you see a black car?

Child: No. 

Mommy: I see one.  Do you see it?

Child: There!

Mommy: Very good!  Now can you find a white/pink/yellow/green/silver car?

Child: There is one!

Mommy:  Good job!  Would you like to listen to some music?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Try to listen to the words and sing along, okay?

Child: Okay.

Mommy: You need to sit down before I can turn on the music.  Sit down, please.  Thank you.

Child: Music!

Mommy: Alright, please be patient.  Do you like this song?

Child: Yes.

 

(After getting out of the car)

Mommy: You were very good in the car today.  Thank you.  I like it when you sit down and help Mommy.  I also like it when you sing.  It's very nice.

Excuse me, may I ask you a question?

why don't we say "let's get in the car"

You can say "in" or "into". Either one is fine. Maybe one is more correct in terms of grammar, but both are used in general conversation.
