Pretend Playtime English: Doctor and Chef dialogues from mamanoi

[English Club]

K. Jahja_caroline requested some dialogues for parent and child playtime.  It's a good idea.  Here are two dialogues.  I did not write them.  K. Mamanoi&porjai wrote them and sent them to me so I could correct them.  I made some small changes but most of the work is hers.  I think they are excellent and useful.  Great job, mamanoi! 

 

Doctor

Mom(patient): Good  evening, doctor.

Kid : Good evening.  What is the problem?  (or What’s wrong?  or What’s the matter?)

Mom(patient): I feel sick.

Kid:  Tell me about your symptoms.

Mom(patient): My knee hurts.

Kid: Okay, may I check it?

Mom(patient):  Please do.

Kid: (uses the equipment and knocks on my knee ) kok  kok  kok

Mom(patient): Oh, it hurts.                                            

Kid: I will give you some medicine for your knee.   Please take it twice a day.

Mom(patient): Ok, thank you doctor.  Please, check my heart beat too.

Kid:  Where is your heart?

Mom(patient): Here, in my chest.

Kid: I will use my stethoscope (ste-tho-scope) to listen to your heart.

Mom(patient): How does it sound?

Kid: It sounds good.  You don’t need to worry.

Mom (patient): I have a stomachache too, doctor.

Kid: Ok, I‘m going to check your stomach.

Mom (patient):  It hurts.

Kid: Can I give you an injection?

Mom(patient): Oh …No…I’m afraid of needles.

 

Chef

Mom: Good morning chef. How are you?

Chef: I’m fine.

Mom: What are you doing?

Chef: I’m cooking

Mom: What are you cooking?

Chef: Noodles.

Mom: Noodles? Show me how to cook them please.

Chef: Ok.

Mom: First, put the pot on the stove and turn on the stove.

Chef:  Yes.

Mom: Fill the pot with water.

Chef: Yes.

Mom: Oh, What is that?

Chef: Vegetables.

Mom: Where are the noodles?

Chef:  Here.

Mom: Can I eat this one?

Chef: No.

Mom: Why not?

Chef: It’s too hot.

Mom: Ok.  I will blow on it first.

Chef: Is it yummy?

Mom: Yes, it’s very yummy.
