Stripe: Usually a long narrow marking, a difference in color or texture.

Strip: a physical characteristic typified by something long and narrow and usually flat. It is different from a stripe because a stripe is just a mark, a strip IS something long and narrow

Strap: A narrow band of fabric or similar material usually used for binding or attaching things together.
"The shoulder strap of a dress.",

String: A cord usually made of fiber, used for fastening, tying, or lacing. Something configured as a long, thin line:
"limp strings of hair"
Cord: A slender length of flexible material usually made of twisted strands or fibers and used to bind, tie, connect, or support. Very similar to string but different in that string is almost always twisted and cord can be solid material (leather for example) or braided.
Rope: A flexible heavy cord of tightly intertwined hemp or other fiber. Usually considered larger than string or cord.
Chain: A connected, flexible series of links, typically of metal, used especially for holding objects together or restraining.
