1. สีมันกลมกลืนกัน (วางยางลบสีเหลืองไว้บนสมุดสีเหลือง แล้วมองไม่เห็นยางลบ สีมันคล้ายๆ กัน)

2. นิทรรศการวิทยาศาสตร์ที่จัดตามบอร์ด เรียกว่า  science exhibition  ได้ไหมค่ะ

    วันวิทยาศาสตร์จะมีในวันพฤหัสบดี ครึ่งวันเช้า

4. คาบเรียนที่  เรียกว่าอะไร  ( เช่น คาบเรียนที่ 1 วิชาเลข   คาบเรียนที่ 2 วิชาภาษาไทย)

5. เราไม่สามารถทำอะไรให้ตรงตามที่เราวางแผนไว้ได้เสมอไป  บางครั้งเราต้องรู้จักยืดหยุ่นหรือปรับเปลี่ยนไปตามสถานการณ์หรือเวลา  (เช่น เราวางแผนว่า  9.00 น. ไปว่ายน้ำ  11.00 น. ทำการบ้าน  แต่ตอน 9.00 น. ฝนตก  เราไปว่ายน้ำไม่ได้  เราก็ทำการบ้านตอน 9.00 น.   แล้วไปว่ายน้ำตอน 11.00  แทน หรืออาจจะเปลี่ยนเป็นเวลาอื่นที่เราสะดวกก็ได้) จะบอกให้เขารู้จักยืดหยุ่นไปตามสถานการณ์

เป็นทางเลือกหนึ่งนะคะ

1. the color is so blended.

2. Science Exhibition ส่วนตัวคิดว่าได้นะคะ ต้องลองฟังความเห็นคนอื่นดูค่ะ

4. block - First block we have math, second is Thai.

5. flexible - ยืดหยุ่น

we can't do anything as (we) planned.

we can't do anything like we planned.

sometimes we need to be flexible, able to adapt to changing situation or time.

(for instance we planned to go swimming at 9am and do homework at 11am but it was raining at 9, we can't have a swim so we can do homework instead and go to swim later, at anytime that suit us.)

   adapt   ใช้   adjust   ได้ไหมค่ะ  แล้วต่างกันอย่างไรค่ะ

   ( เคยใช้ adjust  ในความหมาย  I will adjust the seat back to a comfortable position.)

4. คาบเรียนที่  เรียกว่าอะไร  ( เช่น คาบเรียนที่ 1 วิชาเลข   คาบเรียนที่ 2 วิชาภาษาไทย)

    คาบเรียน อาจจะใช้คำว่า Period ก็ได้นะคะ (The first period is Mathematics, the second one is Thai)

     Period = a lesson in school

 

สำหรับข้อแตกต่างระหว่าง Adapt กับ Adjust นะคะ

Adapt = ปรับตัวเองให้เข้ากับสภาพแวดล้อม, ดัดแปลงให้เหมาะสม (To change your behavior because the situation you are in has change, to change sth so that you can use it in a different situation)
Ex. 1.He was quick to adapt to the new system

       2. The car was adapted for use as a taxi.

      
Adjust =
แก้ไขให้ถูกต้องเหมาะสม ถูกตำแหน่ง เป็นการปรับ
หรือแก้ไขบางสิ่งบางอย่างเพื่อให้เป็นไปตามเงื่อนไขหรือสถานการณ์ใหม่ [to change sth slightly, especially because it is not in the right position, to get used to new conditions or a new situation]
Ex.  There's something wrong with the brakes on the car - they need adjusting.

ขอแชร์เพิ่มนะครับ:

->  You can't see the rubber because its color is indistinguishable from the one of the notebook. 

(indistinguishable = แยกไม่ออก, ไม่ต่างกัน)

หากเป็นสี ที่สวยเข้ากันไปกันได้ ใช้:  complement หรือ go

-  the colors complement each other.

-  Does yellow go with red?

-  The pink shirt can go with blue tie. (= Blue tie looks good on pink shirt.)

และหากเสื้อผ้า หรือ เฉดเครื่องสำอาง ที่ขับสีผิว ก็ใช้ "flatter"  เช่น

-  The white blouse you are wearing can really flatter your skin tone. (= เสื้อขาวที่ใส่ขับสีผิวเธอจริงๆ)

-  Don't use this color.  It isn't flattering (หรือ It isn't a flattering color for you.)  (= อย่าใช้สีนี้เลย มันไม่ขับผิว หรือ ไม่เข้ากับผิวเธอ)

2. นิทรรศการวิทยาศาสตร์ที่จัดตามบอร์ด เรียกว่า  science exhibition  ได้ไหมค่ะ

-> หากเป็นแบบนักเรียนจัดแบบติดบอร์ด ไม่ได้เป็นแบบใหญ่โตเป็นทางการ แบบมีเป็นงานนิทรรศการ อาจจะเป็น Science fair project จะตรงกับกิจกรรมแบบที่ต้องจัด science display boards มากกว่าครับ

    วันวิทยาศาสตร์จะมีในวันพฤหัสบดี ครึ่งวันเช้า

-> The Science day will take place (หรือ will be held ก็ได้) the first half of (upcoming) Thursday.

 (หากพูดถึงกิจกรรม,การแสดง, เหตุการณ์ ฯลฯ ที่จัดไว้  และ เกิดขึ้น ใช้ take place ได้อีกแบบหนึ่งครับ)  

4. คาบเรียนที่  เรียกว่าอะไร  ( เช่น คาบเรียนที่ 1 วิชาเลข   คาบเรียนที่ 2 วิชาภาษาไทย)

-> ที่โรงเรียนที่ผมเรียนมาเรียก period ครับ  เช่น Math is in first period/ Thai language is in 2nd period.  หรือ  What class is it in 3rd period?

1. เรื่องสีที่เข้ากันได้ ถ้าลูกหยิบเสื้อกับกระโปรงที่สีไม่เข้าักันเลย

ปกติจะพูดว่า That blue t-shirt doesn't match with pink skirt. จะได้ไหมคะ

หรือลองเปลี่ยนเป็น That blue t-shirt doesn't go with pink skirt. ได้ด้วยไหมคะ

1. แบบที่คุณเล็กถามพูดว่า  They don't match/go at each other.   ได้ไหม ( พูดแบบนี้อยู่ค่ะ)

2. แล้วคำว่า exhibition  ใช้ในกรณีไหน

    คำว่า  จัดบอร์ด ใช้คำว่าอะไร  ใช้ว่า  Make / prepare the science fair project  ได้ไหม

3.  the first half of (upcoming) Thursday.  =  ครึ่งวันเช้า

    แล้วครึ่งวันบ่าย  ใช้  the second half  ได้ไหมค่ะ

ขอบคุณคุณแม่น้องฟินน์ด้วยนะครับที่แชร์ และขอตอบเพิ่มเรื่อง match และอื่น ๆที่คุณเล็กและคุณรัชนีถามนะครับ

 

1. Match ก็ใช้ในความหมายว่า "สี/เสื้อผ้า/ฯลฯไม่เข้ากัน" ก็ได้ครับ  เพียงแต่เวลาใช้ในรูปแบบ "something matches another"  หรือ  "two things match"   ไม่ต้องมี preposition ตาม  ดังนั้น  ประโยคจึงเป็น  That blue t-shirt doesn't match pink skirt.  หรือ  They don't match.  หรือ หากจะใช้ "each other" ก็ใช้ go เป็น  They don't go with each other.  ครับ

 

2. exhibition จะหมายความไปในทางที่เป็นงานใหญ่, เป็นทางการการ, มี organizer เจ้าของงานเป็นผู้จัด รวมทั้งมีบู๊ธ  และอาจมีสัมมนาอยู่ด้วย  แต่ในทางธุรกิจ งาน exhibition หลาย ๆ งานก็จะตั้งชื่อว่า ".....Fair" ด้วย ก็แล้วแต่ครับ

    ส่วนจัดบอร์ด ความเห็นผมว่าไม่น่ามีคำภาษาอังกฤษตรง ๆ แต่อาจจะใช้ว่า  prepare display board for the science fair project    และจะติด ปะ ก็ใช้ "paste"  เช่น paste pictures, documents, posters on the display board  ครับ

 

3.  ครึ่งวันบ่าย ใช้ second half of the day  ก็ได้ครับ

ปกติก่่อนเที่ยงเราจะใช้คำว่า forenoon นะคะ สำหรับคำว่า forenoon/afternoon เราสามารถใช้ในตำแหน่ง prepositions of time ได้เลยค่ะ
ยกตัวอย่างประโยคนี

วันวิทยาศาสตร์จะมีในวันพฤหัสบดี ครึ่งวันเช้า
The Science day will be held on Thursday forenoon.

ถ้าเป็นช่วงบ่ายก็บอกว่า
The Science day will be held on Thursday afternoon.

นอกจากนี้คำว่าครึ่งวันเช้า เราก็สามารถใช้คำว่า morning แทนก็ได้นะคะ
