Going to Visit Grandparents

 

Mommy: School is finished.  You have one month of vacation.

Child: Yeah!

Mommy: Do you know what would be fun to do over your holiday?

Child: What?

Mommy: Going to stay with your grandparents!

Child: Yes.

Mommy: You get to spend lots of time with your grandfather and grandmother.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: What do you like to do with Grandpa?

Child: Books.

Mommy: Do you like to read books with Grandpa?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Me too.  Grandpa is a great reader. 

Child: Yes.

Mommy: How about Grandma? What do you like to do with her?

Child: Mmmmm….color.

Mommy: You like to color pictures with Grandma?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Me too.  When I was a little girl I colored with Grandma too.  That was lots of fun.

Child: Yes.

Mommy: What else do you like to do at their house?

Child: TV.

Mommy: You like to watch TV at your grandparents’ house?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: That’s nice.  But don’t watch too much, okay? 

Child: Okay.

Mommy: What shape is the TV?

Child: What?

Mommy: Is the TV round or square?

Child: Round.

Mommy: Almost.  The TV is square, like a box.  If you watch too much TV then your eyes will become square too.  Do you want square eyes?

Child: No.

Mommy: Me neither.  Instead of TV, a fun thing to do at your grandparents’ house is to go outside and play.

Child: Okay.

Mommy: You can also eat lots of good food.  Your Grandma is an excellent cook.

Child: Yes.

Mommy: You can stay with your Grandpa and Grandma for three weeks.  After that it will be time to come home and go back to school.

Child: Mommy.

Mommy: Mommy will come and visit you, but this will be your special holiday time with Grandma and Grandpa. Okay?

Child: Okay.

Mommy: Make sure you have fun and relax.  Do you want to start packing your bags?

Child: Yes.

Mommy: Okay, let’s pack your bags to go see Grandpa and Grandma.
