Did + yet is very common in AE.

For BE it is simply wrong,
and inconsistent with the basic meaning of the simple past, which describes an action completed in the past.

Compare:
Have you finished your homework? - [it is still possible to finish it]
Did you finish your homework? - [it is no longer possible to finish it]
