This is a conversation between you and your child. You should practice alone and with another parent, if you can. You should practice reading as "Mommy" and as "Child".
Take a bath
Mommy: It’s time to take a bath.
Child: No.
Mommy: Don’t you like taking a bath?
Child: No.
Mommy: Why? You can splash in the water and play with your toys. It’s very fun.
Child: No.
Mommy: And after you are finished you can come and cuddle with Mommy. We can read a book.
Child: Okay.
Mommy: Stand here please. Let’s take your clothes off.
Child: Okay.
Mommy: I am going to lift you up and put you in the water. Here we go. 1 2 3!
Child: Wheee!
Mommy: Please stand up. I want to put some soap on you. Do you like this soap?
Child: Yes.
Mommy: Soap is nice because it makes us smell good. Now I am going to use shampoo to wash your hair. Please stand still.
Child: I don’t like shampoo.
Mommy: I know shampoo can hurt your eyes. If you close your eyes like this then I can wash the shampoo out quickly.
Child: No.
Mommy: I need to wash your hair. Otherwise you won’t be clean.
Child: No.
Mommy: You can get upset if you want to but I have to wash your hair.
Child: Okay.
Mommy: Please close your eyes. Good job! Are you okay?
Child: Yes.
Mommy: You are finished. Do you want to stay in the bath and play?
Child: Yes.
Mommy: Okay, you can play for five minutes. Mommy will stay here with you.
(5 minutes)
Mommy: Time’s up. It’s time to get out of the bath. Stand up please so I can dry you off.
