    - I have a bad cough / a bad stuffy nose.

    -  I  have a little cough / a little stuffy nose.

-> I cough less today and my nose is less stuffy.

       วันนี้หนูไอมากขึ้น  /  แน่นจมูกมากขึ้น

-> My cough is worse and my nose is more stuffy today.

     คำว่า the remaining   เป็นคำนาม =  ส่วนที่เหลือ     แล้วถ้าใช้คำว่า  the rest  ได้ไหมค่ะ

     ทั้งสองคำนี้  ต่างกันอย่างไรค่ะ  ( เวลาที่เรา copy file ในคอมพิวเตอร์  จะเห็นคำว่า  3 minutes remaining)

หากใช้ the rest ต้องหมายถึง "ที่เหลือทั้งหมด ไม่ว่าจะกี่ตัวก็แล้วแต่"   เป็น  ..but I also want the rest.     อีกตัวอย่างหนึ่งคือ   I want the rest of the 10 dolls.  =  จากตุ๊กตา 10 ตัว หากเหลือกี่ตัว ฉันต้องการหมด    

แต่หากต้องการระบุจำนวนว่าที่เหลือกี่ตัว  ก็ใช้ remaining เป็น "adjective"  ใช้วางไว้หน้า noun  หมายถึง "(คน/สิ่งของ) ที่เหลือ"   เช่น 

 - After the party, some remaining guests stayed to chat with the host. (= หลังงานเลี้ยงจบ แขกที่เหลือบางคนก็ยังอยู่คุยกับเจ้าภาพอยู่)

 - Pour the remaining water into the bucket.  (อันนี้ = Pour the rest of the water [หรือ Pour the rest เฉยๆ ก็ได้] into the bucket.

 

ส่วน  "3 minutes remaining"  เป็นการใช้ remain ที่เป็น intransitive verb  หมายถึง นาทีที่เหลืออยู่  หากใช้กับเวลาที่เหลือ จะใช้ ในรูปแบบ remain+ing วางหลังจำนวนเวลา ครับ

4.  I have to turn it in     &    I have to hand in    แปลว่าอะไรค่ะ

และขอถามเพิ่มค่ะ

    -  My cough is gone    หายไอแล้ว

    -  My nose is not stuffy anymore /  I don't have stuffy nose  anymore.   หายแน่นจมูกแล้ว

    -  My voice is lees hoarse/ more hoarse  เสียงแหบน้อยลง/ มากขึ้น

    -  My voice is not hoarse anymore. / My voice is back to  normal.  เสียงไม่แหบแล้ว

    -  You should drink warm water often , it will help reduce the hoarse voice and your voice is back to normal faster. 

       ดื่มน้ำอุ่นบ่อยๆ จะช่วยลดอาการเสียงแหบลงและทำให้หายเร็วขึ้น

to turn in, to hand in = submit ในกรณีนี้ หมายถึง ส่งการบ้านค่ะ

to turn in a resignation = ยื่นใบลาออก

to turn in นอกจากจะแปลว่า submit แล้ว ยังแปลว่า to inform on or deliver up

  แล้ว  hand in  มีรูปแบบการใช้อย่างไรค่ะ   เห็นที่คุณเอกตอบใช้คำว่า  hand in เฉยๆ หรือละ something ไว้ค่ะ

ขอบคุณคุณจิ๊บ  และขออนุญาตเสริมให้คุณรัชนีนิดนึงนะครับ  It contains the works I have to hand in.  จริง ๆ ไม่ได้ละ something ที่เป็น object ไว้   เพียงแต่ประโยคอยู่ในรูป:  It contains the works that I have to hand in  ละ that ไว้  ซึ่ง  "that" (relative prounoun)  ในประโยคซ้อนดังกล่าวทำหน้าที่เป็น object ของ verb  "hand in"  ครับ

 

และ hand in กับ turn in ในความหมายส่งการบ้าน, ส่งงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย จะใช้แทนกันได้ เพราะ "hand in" = British Eng.  ส่วน  "turn in" = American Eng.  ครับ
