1.  There is some milk left.   มีนมเหลืออยู่ 

     I have no money left.    ฉันไม่มีเงินเหลือ

  left เป็น adj  แปลว่า  เหลืออยู่ 

2.  I will take care of the rest.  ฉันจัดการที่เหลือเอง 

     The rest is up to me  

   rest เป็น n.  แปลว่า ส่วนที่เหลืออยู่ 

เข้าใจถูกไหมค่ะ  แล้ว  ทั้งสองคำนี้   ใช้แทนกันได้ไหม 

 

3. Your game time is finished for today. เวลาเล่นเกมส์ของหนูหมดแล้วสำหรับวันนี้

   ( เขามีเวลาในการเล่นเกมส์วันละ 2 ชั่วโมง ถ้าเขาเล่นไปแล้ว  จะบอกว่า  หมดเวลาสำหรับวันนี้แล้วนะ)

   บางทีเราจะพูดว่า หมดโควต้าแล้วนะ   คำว่า quota นำมาใช้ในกรณีนี้ได้ไหมคะ ฝรั่งเขาใช้พูดกันหรือเปล่า

              Did Daddy give you some money for school?

Kid :     Not yet.

Mom : How much do you want today?

Kid :     …………..baht.

Mom : Here you are. Don’t buy only crispy snacks because they are not healthy/they are not   nutritious enough. O.K?

I let you eat some but not too much. Got it?

You should buy something healthy for example fruit, milk, sushi and so on.

Clear?/ Do you understand?  ( หากพูด “Do I make myself clear ? “ จะดูเป็นทางการไปสำหรับเด็ก)

Kid :      Yeah.

Mom : Now you are talking. Don’t spend it all/Don’t spend all the money.

             Please save some and put it in the/your savings  box.

   You should make a habit of this/You should get into the habit of doing this.

             Then when you are grown up you will have a lot of money in the bank.

Kid :       I will try to save some Mom.

Mom : Good job!

           Well, we are nearly at school/there. Get ready to get out (of the car).

           Make sure that you don’t forget anything because I don’t want to bring it to you later.

(I drop him off in front of the school)

Mom : Before you open the door don’t forget/remember to always  look in the side mirror to check for motorbikes and passers-by, so you don’t hit them.

Kid : O.K

Mom : Good bye honey.

Kid : Bye Mom.

ดังนั้น  "หมดเวลาสำหรับวันนี้แล้วนะ"  =  - Your game-playing time limit (of 2 hours) has been reached (for totday).

ขอรบกวนสอบถามความหมายของ reach ใช้ในความหมายอะไรได้บ้างคะ

"reach"  มีความหมายต่างกันไปขึ้นอยู่กับสถานการณ์การใช้ หลัก ๆ เช่น:

1.  ถึง "จำนวน"  ที่กำหนด  เช่น 

    - You have reached the time limit of 2 hours. 

    -  This car can reach 180 km/hour.  (รถคันนี้เร่งได้ถึง 180 km/hr.)

    -  You can drive only when you reach the age of 18.   (หนูจะขับรถได้ต่อเมื่ออายุถึง 18)

 

2.  "เอื้อม(มือ)ไปจับ" เช่น

    -  I cannot reach the shelf to get the toys.  Mama can you help?  (หนูเอื้อมไม่ถึงของเล่นบนหิ้ง แม่ช่วยหน่อยได้ไม๊)

    -  OK, I will try to reach the toy down for you, darling. (OK, แม่จะเอามันลงมาจากหิ้งให้) 

 

3.  "ล้วง หรือ หยิบจับของ (แล้วเอาออกมา)"  เช่น

   -  She reached down to get her phone in her bag. ( เธอเอามือล้วงลงไปในกระเป๋าเพื่อเอาโทรศัพท์ขึ้นมา)

 

4.  "ถึงสถานที่"

   - The school can be reached by bus number 11.  (มีรถเมล์สาย 11 มาถึงโรงเรียน)

   - When are we going to reach Hua Hin?  (เราจะถึงหัวหินกี่โมง)

 

5.  "โทรหา  หรือติดต่อ"

   -  You can reach me at this phone number.  (คุณสามารถโทรหาผมได้ที่เบอร์นี้)

   -  I am not able to reach him anymore these days.  (ผมไม่สามารถติดต่อเขาได้แล้วระยะหลังนี้)
