แปลได้ว่า คุณก็เหมือนกัน  

ถ้าประโยคที่เขาพูดมามี verb to be เราก็อาจจะตอบกลับได้อีกแบบว่า so are you. อย่างที่คุณรัชนีเข้าใจค่ะ

ส่วนมากจะใช้แบบ American English  ตอนนี้พยายามจะใช้ทั้งสองแบบค่ะ จะได้รู้ศัพท์มากขึ้น

   ตรง   mail heading  แปลว่าอะไรค่ะ

-->  มาจากคำว่า "head"(vi) ที่แปลว่า  "ไปในทิศทางที่" (= go towards)   คำนี้ก็ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันบ่อย ๆ โดยเฉพาะในความหมายว่า "ไป"  ใช้ในรูปแบบ  "head หรือ  to be heading(headed) to/towards/for  +  place/direction"   เช่น:

- Where are you heading/headed?  (= Where are you going? / Where are you off to?)

- I'm heading/headed to office.  (= I'm going to office./ I'm off to office.)

- I'm driving on the highway and heading north.  (= ....going north.)

- We are now on the plane heading for Japan.  (= We are now on the plane flying to Japan.)

- When I'm back, I'll head home right away.  (= When I'm back, I'll go home right away.)   ** home ในประโยคนี้เป็น "adverb"  นะครับ เลยใช้แบบ back home/ stay home/ going home  ได้*** 

   

to be heading = to be headed  เพียงแต่ to be "headed" จะเป็นการใช้แบบ Am.E. มากกว่าครับ

 

 

6. มีผู้หญิง 2 คนมาเจอกัน  คนหนึ่งพูดว่า  You look beautiful.   แล้วอีกคนหนึ่งก็พูดว่า   as to you.

-->  หากไม่ใช่ as do you แบบป้าจิ๊บ  แต่เป็น  "as to you" ก็น่าจะมีประโยคตามหลังนะครับ เพราะจะหมายถึง as for you, you.... = "แล้วสำหรับเธอ เธอก็...."

-->   You have a good memory and are good at searching for things.  Sometimes I can't find my toys, but you can get/find them in no time.   (in no time = in very short time.)

     แม่จำไม่เก่งหรอก ความจริงแม่ขี้ลืมมากกว่าหนูอีก  แต่แม่จะเก็บของเข้าที่เดิมทุกทีหลังจากใช้แล้ว

-->  No, I don't.  ประโยคหลังแค่ไม่ต้องมี will หลัง I ก็ใช้ได้แล้วครับ

 

11.  หนังสือที่มีคำถามอะไรเอ่ย   เรียกว่าอะไรค่ะ

-->  Riddle book ก็น่าจะได้นะครับ

 

12.  มันเป็นคำถามกวนๆ  ( เขาถามคำถามว่า  ถ้าเดวิด เบ็คแฮม โดนใบแดงต้องไปไหน  คำตอบคือ  ไปเป็นทหาร )

-->  riddle  หรือ  conundrum  = คำถามกวน ๆ  หรือ  ปัญหาเชาวน์

     หนูเล่นของเล่นบางอย่างแค่ 2-3 ครั้ง และก็ไม่สนใจจะเล่นอีก  มันยังไม่คุ้มค่ากับเงินที่ซื้อมาเลย

-->  เปลี่ยน It เป็น They ก็ ok นะครับ  หรือจะเป็นอีกแบบก็ได้:  You play with some toys a few times and then lose interest in them.  Money doesn't grow on trees, you know.

"money doesn't grow on trees"  เป็นสำนวน = เงินไม่ได้หามาง่าย ๆ

 

เวลาของยังใหม่อยู่ แล้ว "เลิกเห่อของใหม่"  ไม่ว่าจะเป็นของเล่น หรืออะไรก็แล้วแต่  จะใช้สำนวน  "novelty wears off"  ก็ได้เหมือนกัน เช่น:

->  After the novelty wears off, all you toys are just left sitting the box.   It's money not so well spent, don't you think?
