เปิดปิดน้ำก๊อก

ใช้turn on หรือopenค๊ะ..

turn on the tap / turn on water - เปิดน้ำ

turn off the tap / turn off water - ปิดน้ำ

หรือจะใช้ "run"  ก็ได้นะครับ เป็น:

1.  run the tap = เปิดก๊อกน้ำให้น้ำไหล

    หรือเช่น  "เปิดก๊อกน้ำก่อนจนน้ำร้อน"  =  Run the tap until the water is hot.

2.  the tap is running =  ก๊อกน้ำเปิดอยู่   

    หรือ  "ใครเปิดน้ำทิ้งไว้"   =  Who left the tap running? 

            "อย่าทิ้งเด็กไว้คนเดียวขณะกำลังเปิดน้ำในอ่าง"  =  Don't leave the child alone in the tub while the water is running.

ยังมีอีกสำนวนนึงน่าจะไปใช้กับเด็ก ๆได้ด้วยคือ  "run a bath" หรือ "draw a bath"  =  เติม/เตรียมน้ำให้เต็มอ่างอาบน้ำ   เช่น  Mommy is running a bath for you upstairs. (= แม่กำลังเตรียมน้ำในอ่างให้เต็มอยู่ข้างบน)

ถ้าเปิดน้ำฝักบัวให้ไหล แล้วรอจนมันเริ่มร้อน(จากเครื่องทำน้ำอุ่น) ค่อยอาบ ใช้ แบบคุณเอก Run the tap until the water is hot.ได้ไหมคะ

ถ้าจะบอกให้ลูกลองเช็คดูว่าน้ำร้อนหรือยังใช้ Can you check to see if the water is warm? ได้ไหมคะ

    แต่ส่วนตัวจะใช้ว่า  Check the water temperature to see if it is just fine or not.

ขอตอบรวมเลยนะครับ  :

-  Run the tap until the water is hot  หากจะพูดให้เฉพาะเลยว่าเปิดน้ำฝักบัวให้ไหล แล้วรอจนมันเริ่มร้อน จะใช้เป็นแบบนี้:  Run the water through the shower head till the water is hot.  ก็จะชัดเจนกว่า run the tap ที่แปลว่า "เปิดก๊อกให้น้ำไหล"

 

-  Can you check to see if the water is warm?  ก็ไม่ได้ผิดgrammar นะครับ แต่ไม่ต้องใช้ to see หลัง check ก็ได้ เป็น  Can you check if the water is warm?

 

-  Check the water temperature to see if it is just fine or not.  ก็ใช้ได้นะครับ

 

ขอเพิ่มเติมหน่อยนะครับ   "run" หากใช้กับน้ำ หรือ ของเหลว ในความหมาย "เติมด้วยน้ำก๊อก" จะใช้ได้หลายรูปแบบ นอกจาก run a tap/ run a bath/ run someone's bath  เช่น:

 

1.  run + water + preposition

    -  run water through the hose/shower head/ etc.  = เปิดน้ำให้ไหลผ่านสายยาง/ ฝักบัว / ฯลฯ

    -  run hot water into the sink  =  เปิดน้ำอุ่นลงในอ่างล้างมือ = fill the sink with hot water

    -  run the sink partially full = เปิดน้ำในอ่างล้างมือไม่ต้องเยอะ  = fill the sink partially full with water

 

2.   run + ภาชนะ 

    -  Can you run the empty bucket?  = เปิดน้ำก๊อกใส่ในถังหน่อยได้ไม๊ = Can you fill the bucket with water?

 

นอกจากนี้  turn the tap on/off  จะใช้เป็น  turn the water on/off หรือ turn on/off the water  ก็เหมือนกันครับ
