Kid : Wow! I would love to take the train.

Mom : First we have to take the sky train and get off at Si lom. Then we will change to (take*) the subway and then walk around 5 min. to get to school.

Mom : Yes. I am not kidding. You might die and I would be really sad.I don’t want that to happen to you.(ขู่หนักๆเอาไว้ เพราะไม่อยากเจอเหมือนเด็กหญิงคนนั้นที่ตกรางรถไฟที่สิงคโปร์) 

Mom : The train is coming. Stay behind the yellow line/Don’t cross the yellow line.

Kid : Let me get in first (he tries to push in)

Mom : No, No you have to let people get off first . Don’t block the way. You might get bumped/knocked and fall down.

Don’t stand in the middle. Please stand at the side. Please look at this arrow on the floor. Please stand right here. O.K

Passing the barrier

-I’ll touch the card and when you see the barrier open, you have to walk quickly otherwise you might get hit by it.

-The security guard will let us/is letting us pass the special way/is letting us through the barrier because it ‘s more convenient. And he will take the card(s) from us.

-If you are taller than the height limit/minimum height you have to buy a ticket too.

มาทีหลังแต่อยากแชร์บ้าง

1. เหรียญพลาสติกที่ใช้ เรียก token ก็ได้ เรียก coin ก็ได้แล้วแต่สะดวกค่ะ

    แต่ของบ้านเรา เห็นเค้าให้เรียกว่า token

   This is a token (โชว์ให้ลูกดู ถือไว้เหรียญเดียว) We use it to pass though the gate.

ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเสาข้างๆที่นั่ง หรือแบบราว โดยไม่มีมือจับ ก็เรียกว่า handrail หมดค่ะ

แต่ถ้ามีลักษณะให้จับเป็นอันอันไปอย่างข้างบน เรียก handrail หรือ handle ก็ได้ค่ะ

6. That man/woman gave his/her seat to us.

    This guy devoted his seat to us. (เค้าลุกไปแล้วใช่ไหมคะ ใช้เป็น pass tense ค่ะ)

    This guy has just devoted his seat to us. (เค้าเพิ่งจะลุกไปเมื่อสักครู่นี้เอง เป็นการเน้นให้ลูกรู้ว่า พี่เค้าเพิ่งจะลุกให้เมื่อกี๊)

    This guy devotes his seat to us. (แบบนี้คือ เจอกันทีไร พี่คนนี้ลุกให้นั่งตลอด เป็นประจำทุกครั้งที่เจอ)

*****  คำว่า devote ใช้กับ to ค่ะ ไม่ใช่ for

devote sth to sth/sb    กดดูอ้างอิงได้ตามนี้ค่ะ devote sth to sth/b

7  . รถไฟฟ้า เรียกว่า sky train บ้านเราเรียก BTS

     รถไฟใต้ดิน Subway, underground train หรือบางที่ เช่น London หรือ New York ก็เรียก Tube เลยค่ะ บ้านเราเรียก MRT

แต่ในบางที่ที่รถไฟของเขา ไม่ได้แบ่งว่า เป็น sky train หรือ subway เค้าก้จะมีชื่อเรียกของเขาไปเลย เนื่องจากว่า บางช่วงของทางรถไฟก็มุดลงใต้ดิน บางช่วงของรถไฟก็วิ่งระดับเดียวกับถนน บางช่วงวิ่งอยู่เหนือพื้นถนน

เช่น

                  MRT ของสิงคโปร์ มาจากคำเดียวกับของเราเลยค่ะ Mass Rapid Transit จะเป็นรถไฟเหมือนบ้านเรา แต่บางช่วงก็อยู่บนพื้นดิน บางช่วงอยู่ใต้ดิน

                                                                                  

                  LRT ของสิงคโปร์ มาจาก Light Rapid Transit เป็นรถไฟที่แบบ มีตู้หรือสองตู้ ขบวนสั้น อันนี้ที่สิงคโปรนิยมทำอยู่เหนือพื้นค่ะ

ดังนั้น คนที่นั่นจะพูดประมาณว่า I will take MRT to Orchard staion.  อารายแบบนี้

                  ที่ Sydney, Australia จะเรียกรถไฟว่า CityRail,   CityRail นี่ บางครั้งก็อยู่บนฟ้า วิ่งไปวิ่งมาก็อยู่ใต้ดิน ที่นี่เลยไม่มีการแบ่งว่าเป็นรถไฟฟ้าหรือรถใต้ดิน คนที่นี่จะเรียกรถไฟฟ้าว่า CityRail  หรือ train เฉยๆเลย I will take a train to Town Hall Station. อารายก็ว่าไป

                            

                          และที่ Sydney เค้าก็จะมีรถไฟฟ้าที่วิ่งอยู่เหนือพื้นดิน ซึ่งเค้าจะเรียกตามลักษณะของรถไฟว่า monorail ค่ะ บางทีมันก็อยู่บน บางทีมันก็อยู่ระดับเดียวกับพื้น ตามการออกแบบของที่นี่ เลยไม่มีใครเรียกมันว่า sky train

                 

                 บางครั้ง เราจะได้ยินฝรั่งเรียกรถไฟฟ้าว่า metro เพราะที่อเมริกา เค้าจะเรียกรถไฟฟ้าว่า Metro มาจาก Metro Transit ค่ะ (มันเป็นของ Metropolitan Transportation Authority หรือ กรมขนส่งอารายประมาณนี้)  แต่ละเมืองเค้าก็มีระบบของเค้าเอง บางเมืองเป็นรถไฟฟ้าเหนือดิน sky train  อยู่ระดับเดียวกับดิน train, railway บางเมืองเป็นรถไฟใต้ดิน subway หรือเรียกง่ายๆว่า tube ค่ะ คนที่มาจากอเมริกา เลยจะเรียกระบบขนส่งด้วยรถไฟนี่ว่า Metro ซะส่วนใหญ่
